Marla graduated from The University of Chicago in 1994 with her Master's In Social Work and has maintained her clinical license for over 25 years.  She works with a variety of clients including those with neuro-developmental and neuro-degenerative conditions and their families. Her approach is both supportive and solution focused as she integrates a variety of techniques into the therapy sessions.

In 1995, Marla was trained in Mindfullness Based Stress Reduction and she continues to incorporate that into her practice along with Mindful Self Compassion.

She is also a writer and presenter and has contributed to 3 anthologies about raising kids with special needs and has been published in Special Parent Magazine and a variety of other journals.

Several years ago, Marla was ordained as an officiant by the International Institute for Secular Humanistic
Judaism and, as part of her dissertation, she wrote and presented on topics related to end of life planning and grieving.

Marla is also a founding member and board member of a grassroots non for profit in Highland Park which empowers adults with disabilities to increase their independence and social connections.  CCHI also helps families create sustainable housing solutions through education and advocacy.

Marla believes her most important skill is her ability to connect with her clients and encourages those seeking therapy to set up an appointment for an intake to see if she is a good fit.
